Atascadero softball team splits doubleheader with Lompoc

Keara Blodgett was 5 for 8 with an RBI, two runs scored and three stolen bases as the Atascadero softball team split a doubleheader with Lompoc on Saturday at home.

Blodgett was 3 for 4 in the opener, which Lompoc won 5-1, Nique Mack was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Sally Bowles was 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored for Atascadero (5-3).

Kayla Wood gave up five runs — all earned — in four innings in the loss.

In the nightcap, which the Greyhounds won 8-0, Blodgett was 2 for 4 with  two runs scored, an RBI and three stolen bases, and Makenzi Etchison was 1 for 3 with a bases-loaded triple, part of a five-run third inning for the Greyhounds.

Monache 4, San Luis Obispo 2; Monache 8, San Luis Obispo 2

Monache scored three runs in the top of the first of the first game, and the Tigers never completed the rally.

Andrea Reynolds gave up four runs on six hits and struck out eight in the complete-game loss.

Erica Chandler was 2 for 4 with a stolen base and an RBI, and Hailey Rich was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI for San Luis Obispo.

In the nightcap, Monache tallied eight hits and pulled away early.

Reynolds was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI for San Luis Obispo (6-2), which totaled six hits. Samantha Goode was 1 for 3 with an RBI for the Tigers.

Liberty 8, Morro Bay 7, 8 innings; Liberty 12, Morro Bay 0, 5 innings

Down 3-2 entering the seventh inning in the first game, the Pirates scored four runs in the top of the inning to take the lead, only to see Liberty rally with three of their own to tie the score and force extra innings.

Morro Bay (4-8) took the lead in the top of the eighth, but Liberty again rallied, scoring two runs to secure the home win.

Madelynn Martinez was 2 for 4 with three RBI for the Pirates.

BASEBALL
Cabrillo 13, Paso Robles 4

Taylor Holden was 2 for 2, and Tim Wassam was 1 for 1 with a run scored in the loss for the Bearcats (2-2).
