The Arroyo Grande High boys tennis team won the eight-team, Division 2 Valenica Spring Smash tournament Saturday, beating Valencia 24-23.

No. 1 seed Eli Whittle won his first three matches 8-0, 8-0, 8-0 and beat teammate and No. 2 seed Sean Hollister 2-1 in the finals before Hollister retired with an injury. Hollister won his first three matches 8-0, 8-1, 8-7 (9-7).

The No. 3-seeded doubles team of Derek Lakowske and Cole Laughton was second by winning 8-0, 8-5, 8-7 (7-5) before losing 8-1 in the finals. The No. 4-seeded team of Bryan Rozo and Tyler Anderson won 8-2, 8-5 before losing 8-4, 8-2.
