jscroggin@thetribunenews.com — ANAHEIM - Molly Schlemer scored a game-high 26 points, taking over in the second half, as the Cal Poly women's basketball team topped rival UC Santa Barbara 62-43 in the semifinals of the Big West Tournament.
Almost mirroring the Mustangs men's team's quarterfinal game from Thursday, Cal Poly turned a slight four-point halftime lead into a runaway victory Friday at Honda Center.
Also finishing with nine rebounds, Schlemer had just six points at the break as Cal Poly led 22-19 while struggling to its season-low first-half point total. The Mustangs opened the game 0 for 8 from the field during a 6-minute scoreless stretch to start the game.
