A memorial service was held Thursday to remember Jake, a canine used by the Sheriff’s Office for nine years before he died in 2010.

The dog’s remains were buried in a plot behind the headquarters on Kansas Avenue. Other dogs that have worked for the sheriff will also be buried there as well.

On hand for the ceremony were Sheriff Ian Parkinson and deputies of the K-9 unit.
