Exact last day and reason for closure not disclosed

The Cold Stone Creamery, located at 860 Higuera St. in downtown San Luis Obispo, will be shutting its doors, though no specific closure date has been released.

Madson Properties LLC owner Lana Johns, whose company manages the building, confirmed the business will be closing, but could not share any other information.

"I know it is closing and I will have to find a new tenant,” Johns said Wednesday. “That is all. There is nothing else I can report right now."

Cold Stone owners Joe and Brooke Brundage could not be reached for comment, and employees at the business said they were not authorized to speak about the situation.

The first Cold Stone Creamery opened in 1988 in Tempe, Ariz. It received numerous awards including “Best of Phoenix” before franchises began opening in 1995. From there, the business was named one of the top franchises in the country by “Entrepreneur Magazine.” There are now more than 1,400 stores worldwide.
