Candidates are sought to help advise county Supervisor Bruce Gibson and other county officials.
The North Coast Advisory Council’s election for those who would represent half the area’s neighborhoods is set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 7. Applications are accepted until the council meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Rabobank, 1070 Main St.

Applicants must be 18 years old, live fulltime in the areas they would represent and submit forms available at www.NorthCoastAdvisoryCouncil.org.

Seats for the council’s odd-numbered areas are up for election this year, including areas 1 (San Simeon, current member Bambi Fields, alternate Bob McLaughlin), 3 (Park Hill, member Marjorie Sewell, alternate Claudia Harmon Worthen), 5 (Lodge Hill east of Highway 1, member Roland Soucie, alternate Linda Haskins) and 7 (Lodge Hill west of Pineridge Drive and south of Ardath Drive, member Erwin Ohanessian, alternate Bruce Fosdike).

New terms also will be starting for the appointed Latino/Latina representative (member Marty Munoz-Main, no current alternate) and business seats (member Mac Van Duzer, alternate Mike McLaughlin). Those positions are appointed and subject to the March 20 deadline.

NCAC members review items ranging from countywide land-use regulations and individual projects, such as the currently proposed affordable housing and senior housing complexes, to where and how to put up cell phone towers or stop signs.

Unpaid council members serve two-year terms. The council meets on the third Wednesday of every month except December.
