Pismo Beach was recently featured as a top spot for romance in the February/March issue of AARP The Magazine.

The city was one of six destinations mentioned in a feature highlighting intimate spots across the nation. Pismo Beach, the only city in California included in the piece, is mentioned under the heading: “For couples who still look good in their bathing suits.”

“Between L.A. and ‘Frisco, Pismo is California’s less crowded seaside paradise,” the magazine reads. Other spots featured included Finger Lakes Region, N.Y.; Aspen, Colo.; Sedona, Ariz.; Savannah, Ga.; and Oxford, Md.

The Sandcastle Inn and Ventana Grill were also mentioned in the Pismo Beach item.

The magazine has the highest circulation of a consumer magazine in the U.S., with a circulation of more than 22.7 million per issue as of December, according to preliminary figures released last month by the Alliance for Audited Media, a not-for-profit membership organization (formerly the Audit Bureau of Circulations).

“To have been the only destination in the entire state of California to be chosen was quite the honor, especially the top spot for romance,” Suzen Brasile, executive director of the city’s Conference and Visitors Bureau, said in a news release.
