Cuesta Roundup: Cougars edge La Pierce in baseball

The Cuesta College baseball team downed La Pierce 15-13 in a nonconference game Saturday.

Andrew Montanari was 3 for 4 with one RBI in the Cougars’ (7-9) victory.

Spencer Ruggles was 4 for 5, and Nick Rosso was 2 for 3 with one RBI. Scott Shields and Parker Hindle had two RBI each for Cuesta, which broke the game open with five runs in the top of the eighth inning. 


Cabrillo 8, Cuesta 2; Cabrillo 5, Cuesta 4

In the first game of the doubleheader, Cabrillo scored five runs in the first two innings and held on to win.

Celine Blanco pitched a complete game for Cuesta. Summer Best was 2 for 3, and Kryn Masutani was 1 for 3 with a RBI and a run scored.

In the second game, Cabrillo scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off win.

Masutani was 1 for 3 with a two-run double for Cuesta (9-12). Christina Corsaletti pitched 52⁄3 innings and did not allow an earned run but walked 11 batters and gave up six hits.


Cuesta Swim & Dive Invitational 

The Cuesta men placed second overall out of 15 teams behind Ventura.

Santa Rosa won the women’s team title with Cuesta placing 11th.
