Prep Roundup: San Luis Obispo's Reynolds throws no-hitter, strikes out 13 in softball win

Only two runners to reach were on errors; also, Paso Robles' Wookey throws perfect game

sports@thetribunenews.comMarch 8, 2013

Andrea Reynolds was nearly perfect Friday, throwing a no-hitter for the San Luis Obispo High softball team in its 3-0 win over Templeton.

Reynolds (3-0) shut down the Eagles by striking out 13 batters without allowing a walk or hit batsmen.

Two runners reached on errors for Templeton (1-3), but one was wiped out after a double play, so Reynolds only faced one batter over the minimum. The Tigers have not allowed a run in their four games this season.

San Luis Obispo scored all of its runs in the bottom of the first, and that was more than enough run support for Reynolds.

Lauren Guastari was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Hailey Rich was 1 for 2 with a double and a run scored and Samantha Good was 1 for 3 with a double.

Ashley Stevens (1-3) took the loss for Templeton.

Paso Robles 28, Mission Prep 0, 5 innings

Jenna Wookey pitched a perfect game and had 12 strikeouts for the Bearcats as they shut out the Royals at home.

Chloe Kerns was 4 for 6 with a triple, and Carly McCall was 4 for 5 with a double and six RBI for Paso Robles.

Megan Clark was 3 for 5 with a double, a triple and six RBI for the Bearcats (4-2).

Morro Bay 16, Coast Union 11

The Pirates (1-3) scored nine runs in the top of the seventh to come back and beat the Broncos.

Trailing 10-7 at the end of six innings, Morro Bay took advantage of Coast Union errors to score three unearned runs.

Marissa Tabares (1-2) kept Morro Bay in the game by pitching the final 51⁄3 innings of relief, giving up one run on four hits, striking out eight and walking three.

Michelle Cordova was 4 for 5 for the Pirates with two runs scored, and Madeline Martinez was 2 for 5 with three RBI and a double for Morro Bay.

Gabby Bucio led the Broncos (1-3) by going 3 for 4 with a double and five RBI. Christina Plascecia was 2 for 3 with a two-run double in the second inning to finish with four RBI, and Patty Bucio was 2 for 4 with two runs scored for Coast Union.
