Sheriff's deputies searched a Nipomo property early Friday morning and found hundreds of rooster allegedly used in a cockfighting operation, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.
The property was located on the 1400 Block of Orchard Road.
At around 8:30 a.m. deputies entered the property with a search warrant and found 233 roosters in cages and evidence suggesting they were being used to fight.
Cockfighting is misdemeanor punishable by 6 months in county jail and a fine of up to $10,000.
