Two countywide groups that work with young children are looking for “hands-on heroes,” people in the community who have worked “with great passion and dedication to improve the lives of our youngest children.”

First 5 San Luis Obispo County and Early Learning For All of San Luis Obispo County are seeking nominations in several categories, including:

• Children’s health: These are individuals who work to improve the health of children through treatment, prevention, assessment, education, intervention or coordination.

• Family support: Individuals who work to support and strengthen healthy relationships between children and their families or primary caregivers. Nominees could be parent educators, family advocates, case managers, program managers, office staff, site supervisors or counselors.

• Early care and education: Individuals who teach children in a center-based program (licensed or license exempt).

• Volunteer: Individuals who volunteer their time, without pay, to improve the lives of children, in any setting including in education, health care and nonprofits.

These heroes “work tirelessly, serving as champions in the care of and commitment to little ones, prenatal to 5, as well as their families,” according to a news release from First 5.
