Cal Poly senior swimmer Rachel O’Brien was selected Wednesday to compete in two events at the women’s NCAA Championships from March 21-23 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.

O’Brien is seeded 29th in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1 minute, 57.27 seconds. By virtue of a top-38 ranking in that event, she also ensured herself a spot in the 100 butterfly, in which she also clocked a provisionally qualifying time at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships in February. O’Brien, who will be seeded 40th at 53.08 seconds in the 100, holds school records in both events.

This will be her third trip to the NCAA Championships. O’Brien transferred from Oregon State before the start of the season and made trips to the championships as a sophomore and a junior.
