Says he will enter grad program at Cal Poly

Jeff Aranguena, a candidate for an open seat on the San Luis Obispo City Council, has pulled out from the race.

Aranguena has been accepted to the Education, Leadership, and Administration graduate program at Cal Poly, so he decided not to seek the seat vacated by Councilman Andrew Carter.

"Although I will not be a candidate in the 2013 special election, I look forward to staying involved in our community," Aranguena said.

Aranguena first ran for City Council last November, when he finished third behind incumbents Dan Carpenter and John Ashbaugh.

So far, four other people have filed their intention to run for Carter's former seat: Paul Brown, Carlyn Christianson, Andrea Miller and Kevin Rice.
