Gas tax increase

Arroyo GrandeMarch 6, 2013

As if gas prices weren’t high enough already, a tiny article on page A4 of a recent edition of The Tribune noted that the California Board of Equalization recently voted 3-2 to increase our state’s gasoline tax by 3.5 cents/gallon, effective in July.

This bold move by three bureaucrats in Sacramento will put us back in the national lead for highest state gasoline tax, and it will suck money out of the pockets of citizens and businesses and transfer it to the well-oiled, efficient and highly effective machinery of government.

When are we going to say “no more!” and call an end to this madness, which says California can become the Golden State again if only it raises taxes enough?

The Tribune is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news.
