Mission Prep, Arroyo Grande boys basketball teams set for state playoffs

Mission Prep’s boys basketball team will play at home against Laton High at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the first round of the CIF Division 5 state tournament.

The Royals (23-8) lost 54-46 on Saturday to Buckley in the CIF-Southern Section 5AA final.

Laton (11-18), of Fresno County, lost 46-33 in the championship of the Division 5 final to Tranquility.

If the Royals win on Wednesday, they’d play at 7 p.m. on Saturday at a site yet to be determined.

Arroyo Grande’s boys basketball team will play on the road on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Westlake in the opener of the CIF Division 2 state tournament.

The Eagles (22-9) lost 55-41 in the semifinals of the CIF-Southern Section Division 2A tournament to Redondo Union, which beat Westlake (26-5) in the final 68-63.

If the Eagles win, they’d also play Saturday at 7 p.m. at a site to be determined.
