The Cal Poly softball team grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but lost the lead in the top of the second in a 2-1 loss to Wisconsin on Sunday at the Easton Invitational in Fullerton.

Ashley Romano doubled to lead off the bottom of the first for Cal Poly (5-14-1) and scored on Kim
Westlund’s one-out single.

Mustangs starter Nicole Innamorato (1-2) allowed two unearned runs on three hits and was hurt by two Cal Poly errors while recording only one out in the top of the second. Chloe Wurst relieved and got out of the jam and went the rest of the way, allowing two hits and striking out five in 5 2⁄3 innings.

Cal Poly finished with eight hits and left 10 runners on base. Westlund, Jillian Andersen and Breana West each had two hits for the Mustangs.

Cassandra Durrah (9-1) got the complete game win for Wisconsin (14-3), allowing eight hits and three walks while striking out eight.
