The Bronco Boosters Club hosts its annual reverse drawing at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Veterans Memorial Building, 1000 Main St. It is their main fundraiser for the year and the money raised goes to support a number of activities at Coast Union High School.

One of those activities is sports. On the CUHS campus baseball field Tuesday, Feb. 26, the Boosters’ positive financial impact was in plain sight for anyone watching the Bronco varsity squad play Mission Prep.

That is because the Broncos were sporting brand new uniforms, paid for out of the $13,500 the Boosters contributed to Coast Union’s sports programs.

Up in Templeton, also on Tuesday, Feb. 26, the Lady Broncos were wearing brand new uniforms as well, courtesy of the Bronco Boosters’ fundraising activities.

The tennis teams also have new uniforms thanks to a portion of that $13,500 grant from the Boosters to Coast Union sports programs.

Tickets ($100 each) to the reverse drawing can be purchased at the Cambria Chamber of Commerce; they are also available by calling 927-2281 or 924-1808.

Each year the Boosters sell 200 tickets and at the reverse drawing they draw tickets from a hopper until there are only 10 ticket holders still in the game.

Those 10 take the stage and someone will take home $5,000 — or several on stage will agree to split the $5,000.

Along with the chance to win $5,000, each ticket holder is invited to enjoy two dinners. The total contributed to Coast Union each year by the Booster is approximately $40,000, and those funds go to support arts, drama, and other high school activities.
