Kristin Smart

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said "True Crime with Aphrodite Jones" is on the Discovery Channel; it's actually on Investigation Discovery.

A television show airing Monday night on Investigation Discovery will retell the story of Kristin Smart, the Cal Poly freshman who went missing 17 years ago. Her body has never been found.

Smart will be the focus of an episode of "True Crime with Aphrodite Jones" airing at 10 p.m.

Stan and Denise Smart — who had their daughter declared legally dead in 2002, six years after she vanished — have pleaded for answers in the case for years.

"This is our child," Denise Smart told The Tribune in an interview in 2011. "We can't change what happened, but we can do something more to honor her. The last gift we can give her is to bring her here. She doesn't belong under some junk pile. ... She deserves to come home."

The television show will discuss the details of the case.

Investigation Discovery is Charter channel 138.
