The San Luis Obispo High girls basketball team earned a big road victory at South Pasadena, winning 46-42 in the CIF-Southern Section Division 3A quarterfinals Wednesday.

Erica Chandler scored a game-high 18 points for San Luis Obispo, and Morgan Liebscher added 11.

“It was a battle of wills,” Tigers coach Dan Monroe said. “We knew we had to control the tempo and slow the game down.”

San Luis Obispo played a strong defensive game, causing South Pasadena to miss 15 straight shots between the third and fourth quarters, thanks largely to the defensive work of Aisha Todd, who forced several turnovers, Monroe said

The Tigers (18-10) advance to the semifinals on Saturday, where they will host No. 1 seeded Chaminade, marking the furthest they have gone in the playoffs in 18 years, according to Monroe.
