Robotics coverage

Published: February 20, 2013

Thank you for your coverage of the 3rd Annual Central Coast Vex Robotics Competition at Cal Poly, co-sponsored by the SLO High School Robotics Team and the Cal Poly Society of Women Engineers. The event drew 48 teams, representing 21 schools, from all over California. The event wouldn’t have been possible without the many volunteers who gave so generously of their time, especially the Cal Poly students.

The support of the SLO High School Principal, Leslie O’Connor, the leadership of teacher Jan Fetcho, and organizations such as Softec helped make the event a success. Special recognition goes to Cal Poly Society of Women Engineers representatives Jessie Klemme, Cait Rahm and Elizabeth Wilheim for their invaluable contributions. The participation of Cal Poly students Eric Hamilton as head referee, and Jason Osmann as emcee for the third straight year is much appreciated.

And thanks to Fatte’s Pizza for helping provide lunch for all of the competitors and their families for the third year. The robots don’t run on pizza, but the robot builders, drivers and coaches do!
