Despite Robbie Berwick’s 31-point effort, the Atascadero High boys basketball team fell 79-57 at Leuzinger in the quarterfinals of the CIF-Southern Section Division 3AA playoffs Tuesday night.

The loss marks the second consecutive season that the Greyhounds lost in the quarterfinals. Atascadero fell 75-46 at Oak Park in the Division 3A quarterfinals a season ago.

Berwick shot 9 of 14 from the field and 7 of 8 at the free-throw line. Joe Johnson added seven points, Connor Kim had six and Kevin Woodard had

four points and six rebounds for the Greyhounds (19-9).

Atascadero trailed 16-7 at the end of the first quarter and 35-22 at halftime.

Eric Childress led Leuzinger with 25 points and 11 assists.

The Greyhounds, who tied for the PAC 7 title with Righetti, were playing without Jared Stuedemann for the third straight game in the playoffs because of an ankle injury. Atascadero won its first two playoff games at home.
