Left-hander Chloe Wurst shut out 18th-ranked ranked Washington with a three-hitter in the Cal Poly softball team’s 2-0 win in their final game Saturday night at the Campbell/Cartier Classic in San Diego.
Wurst (1-2) struck out a career-high seven in the win while walking one.
Celina Lafrades and Mariah Cochiolo each had RBI singles in the sixth inning for Cal Poly (2-8).
Kaitlin Inglesby took the loss for Washington (5-5).
Earlier Saturday, the Mustangs had eight hits — including a solo home run by Cochiolo — but fell to Notre Dame, 4-3.
The Fighting Irish (4-3) scored all four runs in the sixth inning.
