Signs prohibiting overnight camping on city streets are being erected throughout San Luis Obispo.
In October, a revised ordinance went into effect making it illegal for people to sleep in their vehicles on city streets and parking lots. The city agreed to install the signs in a settlement with the SLO Homeless Alliance, which sued the city alleging that tickets issued for overnight camping were unconstitutional.
Vehicles that violate the ordinance will be issued a one-time warning prior to being issued a ticket.
