The public will not know for two months, at a minimum, why Cal Poly student Brandon Huang died last weekend.
In a brief statement Thursday afternoon, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tony Cipolla wrote that “an autopsy was performed on Brandon Huang today. No cause of death is being released pending toxicology results. I’m told those results could take 8 to 10 weeks.”
Huang, 20, died early Sunday after passing out just outside the Poly Canyon Village residence hall.
He had asked a friend to drive him home from a party shortly before midnight. Huang had trouble breathing, and police, after being unable to resuscitate him, took him to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police continue to investigate his death.
