Atascaderos annual dancing event to raise money for a new library has sold out, prompting the fundraising group to schedule a new matinee performance for the first time.
The Atascadero Friends of the Librarys fundraiser, now in its fourth year, features locals who dont normally dance in choreographed performances based on the television show "Dancing with the Stars."
Audience members then vote for their favorite dancing pair, which helps raise money for the librarys long-desired expansion.
The event has raised more $70,000 for the new Atascadero-Martin Polin Regional Library slated for an existing building off Capistrano Avenue.
The new afternoon matinee performance will be set up with assembly-style seating, light refreshments and reduced ticket prices unlike the dinner and wine evening before it.
The sold-out evening show is planned for 5:30 to 10 p.m. March 9 while the new matinee performance will follow at 2 p.m. March 10.
Both take place at the Pavilion on the Lake, located at Atascadero Lake Park off Highway 41.
Matinee tickets are available at the librarys current location, 6850 Morro Road.
Tickets for adults are $20, and tickets for children ages 3 to 12 are $10. Children younger than 3 will not be admitted.
