Cuesta Roundup: Cougars get road baseball win

Scott Shields was 2 for 5 with a double and three RBI, Zack Domingues was 2 for 5 with two RBI and a run scored, and Andrew Nelson pitched seven strong innings Tuesday as the Cuesta College baseball team defeated College of the Sequoias 10-7 on the road.

Parker Hindle was 3 for 4 with two runs scored, and Atascadero High graduate Spencer Ruggles was 2 for 4 with one RBI and two runs scored for Cuesta, which had 15 hits.

Travis Beck had a triple at the plate before recording the save for the Cougars.


Reedley 10, Cuesta 2, 5 innings; Reedley 6, Cuesta 5

The Cougars gave up two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, blowing a potential split in a doubleheader sweep in Reedley.

In the early game, Cuesta (5-6) trailed 5-0 after the second inning and gave up four runs in the bottom of the fifth, forcing the eight-run rule and the early ending.

Kryn Masutani was 2 for 2 with a home run, and Cristina Corsaletti also homered for the Cougars in the opener.

In the second game, Celine Blanco pitched a complete game in the loss for Cuesta.

Masutani was 3 for 4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored, and Jasmine Singh was 2 for 2 for the Cougars.

Cuesta led 5-2 going into the bottom of the fifth inning.

Carrie Weigard hit a walk-off RBI single in the seventh for Reedley after Geena Gorabedian hit a solo home run to lead off the inning to tie the score at 5.
