Champion Paragons Sharp Dressed Man At Greengates

For the fourth year in a row, a Brussels griffon with Central Coast connections has won best of breed at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show.

Champion Paragons Sharp Dressed Man At Greengates strutted his stuff Monday in New York City’s Madison Garden, ultimately triumphing over two other dogs in the best of breed competition.

The two-year-old canine champion is owned by Felicia Cashin of San Luis Obispo, Mary Gale of Granite Bay and breeder Kathy Fleener of Tuscon, Ariz. He is trained and handled by Christian and Jenny Wornall Rangel of Santa Ynez.

Sharp Dressed Man At Greengates isn’t the first local Brussels griffon to receive top honors at the prestigious dog show in recent years.

Grand Champion Cashnross’ First Griff Tina Fey, who is owned by Cashin and Carole Ross of San Juan Bautista, won best of breed at Westminster in 2011 and 2012. And her brother, Walk the Line, took home the same title in 2010.

Cashin, who is active with the local chapter of National Brussels Griffon Rescue organization, has been involved in exhibiting Brussels griffons for approximately 40 years. She and her husband, Jack, own USL Inc., a San Luis Obispo firm that specializes in the development, manufacture and sale of motion picture audio and visual equipment.

They have lived in San Luis Obispo for more than 16 years.
