The Atascadero High boys basketball team, which rode a late-season charge to earn a share of the PAC 7 title with Righetti, earned a home game in the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 3AA playoffs, the section announced Sunday.
The Greyhounds had plenty of company — in all, 11 county teams were awarded home games in the boys and girls basketball and girls water polo division playoffs.
On Wednesday, Atascadero (17-8, 10-2 PAC 7) will host Garden Grove League at-large team Bolsa Grande (6-13, 4-6), which finished fourth in its league. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
Other area teams hosting playoff games are Los Padres League runner-up Templeton (15-9, 9-3), which hosts Mission League fourth-place team Harvard-Westlake in a Division 4AA game; Coast Valley League runner-up Coast Union, facing Frontier League third-place finisher Villanova Prep in a Division 5A game; and the CVL’s third-place team, Shandon, hosts Acaciawood Academy in a Division 6 game.
Arroyo Grande (18-9, 7-5 PAC 7) travels to Whittier (13-13, 5-5 Del Rio League) for a Division 2A playoff game Friday.
Playing road games on Wednesday are Morro Bay (10-15, 4-8 LPL), which travels to Frontier League
co-champs Nordhoff (16-7, 9-1) in a Division 4A playoff game; in a Division 5AA playoff game, Mission Prep (18-7) will play at Coastal League runner-up Wildwood (7-10, 6-2); and North County Christian (5-13, 4-8 CVL) plays at International League champ Calvary Baptist (19-5, 12-0) in a Division 6 playoff game.
In girls basketball, LPL champions Morro Bay (21-3, 12-0) hosts St. Mary’s Academy (13-14, 4-5 Santa Cruz League) in a Division 4AA playoff game Thursday at 7 p.m.
Also on Thursday, in Division 3AA, Atascadero (16-11, 6-6 PAC 7) hosts Suburban League fourth-place finisher Bellflower (9-19, 6-6); in Division 3A, PAC 7 third-place finisher San Luis Obispo (15-10, 9-3) hosts the LPL’s Cabrillo (9-16, 4-8); in Division 4AA, LPL runner-up Templeton (21-4, 10-2) hosts Bishop Montgomery (20-7, 4-4) and LPL third-place finisher Nipomo (14-11, 8-4) travels to Tri-Valley champ Oaks Christian (19-6, 10-0); and in Division 6, CVL third-place finisher Coastal Christian (7-4, 6-4) travels to Harbor League runner-up Price (12-13, 6-2).
On Saturday, CVL runner-up Coast Union (10-6, 8-2) travels to Liberty League third-place team Holy Martyrs in a Division 5A game.
Arroyo Grande’s girls water polo team (23-5, 12-0), the PAC 7 champions, will host Sierra League third-place finisher Claremont (7-18, 2-6) in a Division 3 playoff game Wednesday at 5 p.m. PAC 7 third-place finisher Paso Robles (9-15, 5-7) will travel to Baseline champion Los Osos (19-9, 10-0).
In wild-card games Tuesday at 5 p.m., Atascadero (11-11, 5-7 PAC 7) hosts Etiwanda in a Division 3 game, and LPL third-place finisher Nipomo (10-5, 3-1) hosts Pasadena (17-11, 5-3 Pacific League) in a Division 5 game.
