Thanks for big grant

Published: February 10, 2013

On behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters and the children we serve, we publicly thank the wonderful women from Central Coast Funds for Children for the generous grant of $5,500.

Big Brothers Big Sisters creates professionally supported one-to-one relationships with trained and supervised volunteer role models.

On a national level, a Public-Private Ventures study found that children enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters programs are more likely than their peers to perform better in school, behave nonviolently, avoid illegal drugs and alcohol, and have stronger family relationships.

Every dollar we raise goes directly to serving youths in San Luis Obispo County, and the funds from Central Coast Funds for Children will support the staff time associated with screening and training volunteers to work with children in our program. Central Coast Funds for Children is a publicly supported, charitable organization. Funds are raised through private and business donations, dues and special fundraising events. They have raised and distributed more than a million dollars to benefit children in need in San Luis Obispo County. We are so grateful for their support of our programs.
