Cal Poly women down UC Santa Barbara in swimming and diving

The Cal Poly women's swimming and diving team improved its record to 3-1 in duals with a 172-128 win over UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, while the Cal Poly men fell to 1-3 on the season with a 151.5-146.5 loss to the Gauchos.

Rachel O’Brien paced the Mustangs women, winning the 100-yard butterfly (55.20 seconds) and the 200 butterfly (2 minutes, 1.11 seconds).

For the men, Paolo Stanchi won the 100 backstroke (51.93) and the 200 backstroke (1:53.14), and Adrian Brynnel won the 200 freestyle (1:40.19) and the 500 freestyle (4:34.18).

The meet was the last of the season for Cal Poly. The men will race next in the Pac-12 Championships on March 3 at Federal Way, Wash., and the women will participate in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships at East Los Angeles City College on Feb. 20.
