On a recent Saturday evening, the audience for the February performance of the SLO Symphony at the Performing Arts Center was treated to a spectacular concert.
Though not qualified to make technical comments about musical performance, as a dedicated listener I can say without reservation that the orchestra was in particularly good form. The new sound system helped to create a much more lush sound than in the past (resonance, I believe).
Their delivery of Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov was among the best performances Ive ever heard from this fine local orchestra.
And Pam Dassenko, usually first violin, performed brilliantly as soloist. She deserves enormous praise for her efforts, as demonstrated by the standing ovation she received.
We are lucky indeed to have such a fine orchestra in this small community.
