Cuesta baseball team drops slugfest

Published: February 5, 2013

Brandon Oliver had two doubles and three RBI, and Zack Domingues was 3 for 5 at the plate, but the Cuesta College baseball team fell at Riverside 13-11 on Tuesday.

The teams combined for 24 runs on 29 hits and nine errors in a game that lasted more than three hours.

Travis Beck had four strikeouts over four innings of relief, but gave up seven runs — three earned — on 10 hits and one walk in the loss for the Cougars (1-3).

After trailing 11-6 after seven innings, Cuesta had four runs in the eighth and one in the ninth, but the rally fell short as Tanner Keist recorded a six-out save for Riverside.

Marco Murillo, Brandon Oliver and Andrew Montanari were all 2 for 4 at the plate for Cuesta.
