Tigers' girls basketball team downs Eagles in overtime

The San Luis Obispo High girls basketball team was down by nine points with 2:43 to go in the fourth quarter Monday, but rallied to force overtime and ended up beating Arroyo Grande, 44-41.

Christine Freberg had a game-high 16 points, hit a game-tying 3-pointer with under a minute to go,
and had four rebounds for the Tigers (13-10, 7-3 PAC 7). San Luis Obispo switched to a halfcourt trap defense to force several turnovers in the final minutes. Jessica Judge had 12 points, five rebounds, and six blocks.

Alex Mero led the Eagles (9-15, 2-9) with 10 points, seven rebounds, and four steals. Ashlyn Herlihy had seven points and seven rebounds, and Olivia Galindo had six points and four steals.

St. Joseph 66, Atascadero 46
The Knights’ Tatiana Dunlap scored 37 points, including 12 free throws, in a win over Atascadero.

Maddie Leong led the Greyhounds (15-7, 5-4 PAC 7) with 17 points. Sabrina Degnan had nine points and five rebounds.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Arroyo Grande 57, San Luis Obispo 34

Matt Willkomm had 23 points and three assists as the Eagles (17-8, 6-5 PAC 7) cruised by the Tigers.

Cobe Williams and Brennan Rivera both had eight points and four rebounds for Arroyo Grande, which led 29-12 at halftime.

Marley Stallings was the leading scorer for San Luis Obispo (8-15, 3-7) with nine points.
