I urge the San Luis Obispo City Council to vote for a special election to replace Andrew Carter’s vacated seat. With almost two years remaining in Carter’s term, it makes sense to let the residents of San Luis Obispo decide who will represent them in his place.
I agree with The Tribune that there are too many important issues pending to make this a political decision. There are plenty of qualified candidates out there, and the vote-by-mail process will keep the cost down. So let democracy work. Call for a special election.
