Last chance to design logo for Grover Beach skate park

Published: February 4, 2013

The deadline for a contest involving the South County Skate Park in Grover Beach has been extended to Monday, Feb. 4.

The YMCA of San Luis Obispo County, which signed a one-year lease with the city to operate the skate park at 1750 Ramona Ave., is asking students of all ages to design and submit a new logo for the park.

The first-place winner will get a free two-month membership to the park or a gift card from a local business. Logos should include a picture of a skateboard or skateboarder and the words “South County Skate Park.”

Questions and entries should be directed to jjones@sloymca.org. The YMCA is also looking for middle and high school students who want to join the Junior Skate Park Street Team, which helps promote events and activities at the park.

The skate park will hold a soft opening March 1-3, with the grand opening set for March 23. For more information, go to http://www.sloymca.org/programs/south-county-skate-park.php.
