Regarding the recent article, Killer Cats (Jan. 30), we would like to offer a solution that seems to be working for us. First, I must say that we are new to the world of cats, so when we recently inherited a young house cat, we were amazed at her ability to catch birds when she went outside. We love the song birds in our neighborhood and found this very distressing.
In desperation, we went online and found a brightly colored fabric collar cover. According to the cat collar information, birds see bright colors easily even in low light conditions. That was about five months ago and she hasnt caught a bird since she has been wearing her collar. We feel good that we have not only given a home to our cat, but have provided a safe environment for our birds.
