Go Canadian on guns

Published: February 4, 2013

I can’t believe what I am reading almost daily about gun control. It is unbelievable that people are saying guns don’t kill, that it’s people who kill. What nonsense.

The United Kingdom bans the private ownership of guns, where the firearm-related deathrate per 100,000 population is 0.25; Canada is 2.13 and United States 10.2 (from Wikipedia).

In Canada, handguns must be registered and potential buyers must undergo training, a personal-risk assessment and a criminal background check. They must supply two references and have their spouses notified before purchase. I would go one step further: have one of the references by a medical professional.

Because it would be impossible to repeal the sacred Second Amendment, why not do something along the lines of Canada, plus add the reference from a medical professional?
