I am writing this as a resident of San Luis Obispo.
I have lived in this county since 1967. In that time, we have seen many changes in our city.
It is an extremely difficult task to oversee these changes and at the same time keep the city functioning.
Andrew Carter has only been a member of our City Council a short while, but he has kept the integrity and has contributed to our City Council in a positive manner. It is with deep regret that we see him step down from this position.
However, life is change! It is with great hope and pride that I suggest that our mayor appoint Jeff Aranguena to fill Andrew’s seat.
As you are well aware, Jeff exhibited great potential at the time of our November election and missed winning by a small margin.
The Tribune has named him one of its “Top 20 Under 40.” I believe he would provide energy and passion while ruling on changes for the betterment of our city.
Elections are expensive! The cost of another election so close to the November one would certainly be a detriment to our city budget.
We have a precedent in place that will allow our mayor to appoint Andrew’s successor. Let it be Jeff!
