Former Cal Poly standout Buschini signs with San Diego Padres

Published: February 1, 2013

Former Cal Poly baseball standout Adam Buschini has been rewarded for earning the Australian Baseball League’s triple crown, signing a contract with the San Diego Padres on Friday.

The Padres have picked up the three remaining years of the contract Buschini signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009. Buschini was cut by the Phillies and 2010, and, after bouncing around the minor leagues, signed with the Canberra Cavalry of the ABL.

Buschini will join San Diego for spring training and could play for their AA-class team, the San Antonio Missions.

Buschini won the ABL triple crown with a .363 batting average, a league record-tying 15 home runs and a record-breaking 50 RBI in 45 games with the Cavalry.
