Cal State Fullerton selected to repeat as Big West champs

The Cal Poly baseball team was picked to finish fourth in the Big West conference this season in the coaches preseason poll released Thursday.

The Mustangs  (36-20, 16-8 Big West last year) bring back five all-Big West first-team selections, including starting pitcher Joey Wagman, third baseman Jimmy Allen, and first baseman/outfielder Tim Wise.

Also returning are catcher Chris Hoo, relief pitcher Reed Reilly, who was  a freshman All-American last season, and second-team all-Big West outfielder David Armendariz.

UC Santa Barbara was picked to finished fifth, followed by Hawaii, UC Riverside, Cal State Northridge, UC Davis, and Pacific.

Cal Poly opens its season at San Francisco on Feb. 15.
