Driver allegedly struck another vehicle with his truck, then fled

The California Highway Patrol is seeking a Nipomo man who struck another vehicle with his pickup truck near Willow Road, then abandoned his truck and fled.

Officers are looking for Orlando Diaz, 47, a registered sex offender.

According to the CHP, Diaz was driving his 1993 Dodge pickup north on Highway 101 at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday.

He drove his truck into a 2003 Toyota Sequoia being driven by a 59-year-old Nipomo man. That driver, whose name the CHP did not release, was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center  with undisclosed injuries.

Diaz kept driving, and eventually headed south on 101, then on to Willow Road, where he left the Dodge. Officers had not found him as of Wednesday afternoon.
