Prep Roundup: Paso Robles finishes undefeated in wrestling duals

Kevan Garcia (52 pounds), Robbie Martinez (132) and Allan Mnatankian (145) all won by technical fall as the Paso Robles High wrestling team wrapped up a perfect dual season Tuesday with a 57-18 win over Pioneer Valley.

The Bearcats  finished 12-0 in duals and 6-0 in PAC 7 duals.

Atascadero 37, Righetti 29

CJ Cooper (182) and Ceasar Contreaous (113) both won by pin for the Greyhounds (20-2, 5-1 PAC 7).

Other Atascadero winners included Cruz Mendoza (106), Jack Clemmensen (106), Nick Ducasse (145) and Ryan Lombardi (170). 

GIRLS WATER POLO

Paso Robles 8, Atascadero 7

Shannon Rees scored the tying and go-ahead goals in the fourth quarter as the Bearcats (18-7, 5-1 PAC7) sneaked by the Greyhounds.

Paso Robles jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter, but Atascadero (14-9, 4-2 PAC 7) rallied and held a 7-6 lead with just over six minutes remaining before the Bearcat comeback.

Rees finished with four goals, Kylie Pugh added three goals, and Marti Rae Grois had 17 saves in goal for Paso Robles.

Rachel Gruetzmacher and Mahreya Kelly scored two goals apiece, and Lauren Giggy had 12 saves in goal for Atascadero.

Arroyo Grande 11, San Luis Obispo 1

Kelsey Docuto scored three goals, and Hayley Cobarrubis and Brooklyn VanderVeen scored two apiece as the Eagles (17-3) wrapped up the PAC 7 regular season with a 6-0 league record.

Alana Benson had five saves in goal for Arroyo Grande, and Anna Mullen had 14 for the Tigers (8-16, 2-4 PAC 7).

BOYS SOCCER

Lompoc 4, Nipomo 1

Ivan Mosqueda scored off a Jonathon Gomez assist, and Jason Alvarado had five saves in the loss for the Titans (11-8-4, 5-3-2 LPL).

Templeton 1, Cabrillo 0, OT

Austin Alarcon scored the winning goal on a penalty kick as the Eagles (3-12-2, 1-9 LPL) won for the first time in league play.

Pyrus Yamagata had nine saves in goal for Templeton.

Coast Union 2, Morro Bay 1

Jackson Chavez scored off of an assist from Juan Carlos Moreno in the second half, but the Pirates (12-7-3) couldn’t rally from a 2-0 halftime deficit.

Pedro Leonardo and Oscar Catalan scored for the Broncos (7-7-3), and Leonel Salaz had six saves in goal.

GIRLS SOCCER

Nipomo 2, Lompoc 0

Christina Ozzimo scored twice off assists from Denise Belmontes, and Yocelyn Lopez had two saves in the shutout for the Titans (10-8-2, 8-2 LPL).

Coast Union 2, Morro Bay 0

Cristy Plasencia and Karla Cisneros scored for the Broncos (8-7-1).

Both goals were assisted by Remy Corbet, and Gaby Bucio had seven saves in goal for Coast Union.

Madelynn Martinez had seven saves in goal for the Pirates (3-14, 1-8 LPL).

Cabrillo 1, Templeton 0

Sara Albertini had 10 saves in goal for the Eagles (5-12, 4-6 LPL).

Albertini split time in goal with Sammy Schmidt, who had six saves.
