Three locals have been admitted to Class 43 of the California Agricultural Leadership Program, a competitive leadership development program offered to emerging agricultural leaders across California

Anthony Bozzano of San Luis Obispo, Carson Britz of San Luis Obispo and Danielle Burk of Atascadero will attend the intensive, 16-month program, which consists mostly of monthly seminars at Cal Poly, Cal Poly-Pomona, Fresno State University and UC Davis. A total of 24 people will participate in the program this year, according to a recent news release.

Raised in a farming family in Stockton, Bozzano is the sales manager for The Thornhill Companies, a family-owned and managed vineyard and winery company with headquarters in Santa Barbara. He is involved in business and product development of private label wine brands, bulk wine negotiations, contracting wine services and grape sales.

Britz is the food safety coordinator for Apio Inc., a vegetable packing and processing company in Guadalupe. He manages the food safety program for sourcing from Canada, Mexico, Central America and the United States. He focuses on food safety compliance with Apio’s vendors, growers and harvesters. He is a licensed pest control adviser.

Burk is a purchasing agent for San Luis Obispo County Farm Supply Co., where she serves the 2,300-plus members of the farmer-owned cooperative. She and her husband own a small cow herd.

The program is operated by the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation and since 1970 has trained more than 1,100 men and women.
