Five months after its arrival in Atascadero, Designer’s Outlet has closed.

Located at 7175 El Camino Real, the store carried overstock clothing, shoes and home accessories from Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s.

Warren Frace, Atascadero's community development director, said that the business was not meeting its sales targets, and that the owner has plans to move the business to the Bay Area. The city will make it a “priority” to fill the location, he added.

The Atascadero location was the Pleasanton-based company’s first store in California, district manager Fadel Hemdan previously told The Tribune.

The 16,000-square-foot space cost about $10,000 a month, and there were a dozen employees.
