Cat, dog and horse events coming up

Here’s a roundup of upcoming animal-related events in San Luis Obispo County:

White sale at Woods

Woods Humane Society will hold a white sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Any dog or cat with white in their coat will be part of the half-off adoption fee special. Adoptable animals are listed at http://woodshumane.org and are at 875 Oklahoma Ave., in San Luis Obispo. For information, call 543-9316.

Movie on military dogs

“Always Faithful,” a documentary about U.S. Marine Corps dog teams on the front lines of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, will show at 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Park Cinemas as a fundraiser for Sherwood Dog Park of Paso Robles. Director and cinematographer Harris Done and U.S. Marine and dog handler Mike Dowling will attend and introduce the film at 7 p.m. A wine reception precedes at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance through Feb. 6 and $15 at the door. Dog park social

Vineyard Dog Park of Templeton will be celebrating its four-year anniversary with a coffee social at the dog park from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Feb. 9. Coffee and pastries will be served. Horse camps for kids

Adventures with Gentle Horses children’s camps will be from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 16 and April 6 at Heaven Can Wait Equine Sanctuary. Children ages 5 to 12 will learn basic equine manners, body language, safety skills and round pen activities. Heaven Can Wait is at 6275 Cerros Pioneros in San Miguel. Adopt a cat in SLO

The Feline Network holds cat and kitten adoptions from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday at the Petco in the Madonna Shopping Center in San Luis Obispo. Cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, tested and vaccinated. The adoption fee is $60 for one or $80 for two. A free vet exam is included .
