Once I was told that these Letters to the Editor are printed to promote dialogue among readers.

Dialogue is defined by Webster’s as “interchange and discussion of ideas, esp. when open and frank, as in seeking mutual understanding or harmony.”

Mary Ross’ Jan. 19 letter, “Congress is full of it,” the contents of which are not quoted here for obvious reasons, can only be defined as shallow, offensive and useless trash not worthy of this newspaper.
