San Luis Obispo police are asking the public for help in finding two men described as transients who assaulted and robbed a man Monday night in Mission Plaza.

The victim, Gareth Morgan, 26, of San Luis Obispo, was walking in Mission Plaza at about 11 p.m. when he was attacked by two white males in their mid-20s, according to police. The assailants took Morgan’s backpack and wallet and fled as witnesses approached, yelling.

Morgan suffered moderate injuries in the attack, including cuts to his face and a possible concussion. He was treated at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.

One assailant was wearing a blue sweatshirt, and the other a grey hooded sweatshirt, police said. A woman with two dogs was also seen with the assailants. The dogs were described as a pit bull and a “shaggy” type of dog.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call the Police Department at 781-7317.
