Cal Poly senior running back Deonte Williams was named to the College Sporting News’ Fabulous Fifty FCS All-America Team.

This season, Williams was named a second-team All-America honoree by the Associated Press, and was also selected to the second team by Sports Network and Beyond College Sports.

The Fabulous Fifty selects players based upon athletic talent, good character and other team-oriented attributes.

Williams, who played in the Casino del Sol College All-Star Game in Tucson on Jan. 11, was named Cal Poly's most valuable player at a team awards banquet Jan. 13.

Williams rushed for 1,506 yards, 72 yards short of the school record, and 12 touchdowns last fall en route to first-team All-Big Sky Conference honors.

The last Mustangs player named to the Fabulous Fifty was wide receiver Ramses Barden, who earned the award three times from 2006-2008.

Including honorable mentions, a total of 61 players and three coaches were selected. Eastern Washington University led the way with five honorees. The Big Sky Conference was the top FCS conference with 14 selections.
