Atascadero police employees are sporting historically appropriate badges this year to celebrate the citys 100th anniversary.
The Atascadero Police Association is backing the new badges, which features a new shape and logo so officers and dispatchers can share the look municipal officers wore in 1913, the association said.
The badges also display each employee's hiring date to celebrate their individual history with the city. Employees will wear the new badges for this year only.
The community helped raise money for the new badges by participating in a recent police association raffle.
Atascadero's centennial celebration features several city and service group efforts throughout the year. For details, visit www.atascaderocentennial.com.
