The sale of A Matter of Taste, Mike and Sally Thompson’s gourmet shop on Burton Drive in Cambria’s East Village, to Mark Morris and Gayle Jenkins of Santa Ana is due to close Wednesday.

“We’ve been here 10 years,” Mike Thompson said, “and we’ve enjoyed the heck out of it.”

Mike Thompson is this year’s president of the Cambria Community Services District Board of Directors; he and his wife also are involved with a number of nonprofit organizations, including American Legion Post No. 432 and the Cambria Chamber of Commerce.

Jenkins has an online baking company,3 Heart Tarts, which specializes in English-style shortbread-and-fruit-jam tarts. According to the website, the tarts are shipped anywhere in the U.S. and delivered for free in Cambria, Cayucos and Morro Bay.

Thompson said Jenkins plans to incorporate that tasty enterprise into the Matter of Taste business plan.
